UPD and Western Power Relationship
UPD works closely with Western Power to deliver electrical infrastructure that supports residential, commercial, and industrial developments throughout Western Australia. As an engineering consultancy, UPD designs electrical distribution networks in accordance with Western Power’s technical standards, policies, and design requirements, ensuring projects can be safely integrated into the existing electricity network.
The relationship extends beyond preparing compliant designs. UPD collaborates with Western Power throughout the project lifecycle—from early master planning and network investigations to detailed design, construction support, and project handover. This collaboration enables developers to identify network constraints early, optimise servicing solutions, and minimise project risks and delays.

UPD and Horizon Power Relationship
UPD works collaboratively with Horizon Power to deliver electrical infrastructure solutions that support residential, commercial, industrial, and regional developments throughout Western Australia’s regional and remote communities. As an engineering consultancy, UPD designs electricity networks that comply with Horizon Power’s technical standards, ensuring new developments are safely, reliably, and efficiently connected to the regional electricity network.
Unlike metropolitan projects serviced by Western Power, developments within Horizon Power’s service area often present unique challenges, including isolated power systems, long-distance infrastructure extensions, constrained network capacity, and the integration of renewable energy technologies. UPD works closely with Horizon Power to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions that address these challenges while meeting the needs of developers and local communities.

UPD and NBN Relationship
UPD works closely with NBN to ensure new residential, commercial, and industrial developments are provided with reliable telecommunications infrastructure that supports high-speed broadband connectivity. As part of the land development process, UPD coordinates the planning and integration of NBN infrastructure alongside other essential services, helping developers deliver fully connected communities.
UPD engages with NBN from the early planning stages to ensure telecommunications requirements are considered during subdivision design. This coordination enables efficient installation of pit and pipe infrastructure, minimises conflicts with other underground utilities, and helps avoid construction delays.
UPD’s services relating to NBN infrastructure include:
- Telecommunications servicing coordination.

- Service crossing coordination with other utilities.

UPD and Opticomm Relationship
UPD works collaboratively with Opticomm to deliver telecommunications infrastructure for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments across Western Australia. As a recognised fibre network provider, Opticomm offers an alternative to the NBN for many new developments, providing high-speed fibre connectivity to homes and businesses.
UPD coordinates with Opticomm during the planning and design phases to ensure telecommunications infrastructure is integrated with all other utility services. By considering fibre network requirements early in the design process, UPD helps developers achieve efficient utility layouts, minimise service conflicts, and streamline construction.
UPD’s services relating to Opticomm infrastructure include:
- Telecommunications servicing coordination.
- Fibre network planning and integration.
- Pit and pipe design coordination.

UPD and UDIA
Following a partnership between UPD and UDIA that has been 30 years in the making. In 2026, UPD and UDIA have taken this relationship to a completely new level. We recently signed a partnership agreement to cover the next 3 financial years. This will see UPD dual sponsor the UDIA Outlook events, this is a unique under 35’s industry specific collaboration created for the purpose of supporting the next generation of WA Development Industry Professional. In addition, our partnership includes being the Network Sponsor of the highly successful and prestigious industry luncheons.
